hair movie night for 2013

Starting Monday January 28th, Morphic will be hosting regular movie night meet ups! What kind of movie, you ask? Hair movies, of course! We'll kick off the series with Marilyn Monroe's classic, "Some Like it Hot". The first Monday, (Jan. 28th) we'll watch the film and enjoy some house-made popcorn... and the following Monday (Feb. 4th) we'll practice Marilyn's iconic style. Bring your hairdresser friends, and your own model to practice your skills. (You can come practice on yourself, too!) The more the merrier. We'll also have a raffle drawing for free products! Bring drinks, pillows, or whatever else you feel like bringing for Morphic's first movie night. Come on by and check it out!

best wigs for fall/winter 2012

I walk past the Chanel store on Maiden Lane in San Francisco every day on my way to work.  The current wigs on the mannequins in the display window are just too fabulous  not to mention on the blog.  My friend Isaac Davidson designed these wigs two months ago in New York. He had them sitting in a box ready to ship when I came to interview him at his NY studio last October.  I loved them then, and they look fabulous in the Chanel window now. The convex bang, hot pink bob, long ponytail and fluffy bow are all genius!

Perfecting the perfect niche

I really enjoyed being the guest speaker at the San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology for Paul Mitchell!  I taught the o'young hairdressers how to balayage and how I became one of the top hair stylists in San Francisco because of it.  I must say, it feels really good to give back.  It's all about becoming a specialist in a trend that's going to stick around- like learning how to balayage.  As with many successful business owners, I feel that I have a thriving career because of the niche I've selected.  All I did was look at what was trending in New York and L.A, the origin where most hair and beauty trends come from.  San Francisco is a little delayed in picking up fashion/beauty trends, but we eventually get on broad! That's actually something to take advantage of if you want to be an early adopter.  I started doing balayage five years ago, after meeting and being inspired by colorist Vivian Grimaldo in L.A.  I trained and studied the technique, and now I have new clients every day that are thrilled with my balayage color results. They look incredible!  I'm really proud of what I do and as I continue to grow, I love being able to share my knowledge with other hairdressers.

Holiday Glam with the Morphic Sisters

We're rearing up for all our holiday events and helping our Morphic beauties get ready for the occasion.  We're inviting all our ladies to come in with their girlfriends.  Bring your holiday dress, a bottle of wine and we can make a party of if.  Mishi and I will be tag teaming on creating evening hair-dos and I will add the finishing touches with glam makeup and false lashes to top.  We're loving the holiday looks on the red carpet this year. The hair styles are a gorgeous collection of romantic curled down dos, side-dos and braided up-dos or sleek neat styles that work great to show off edgy cuts or swept back into a simple top-knot.  For makeup, we're seeing classic eyes that are all about the lashes coupled with sultry lips in ruby and cranberry tones.  Check out our pinterest page for inspiration and we will customize your own look. 'Tis the season! Emi
