A Morphic Bride

morphicbride

New York vs. San Francisco, East Coast vs. West? Not at Morphic. We strive to create both "New York" fashion-forward looks, and "California" natural, laid-back looks. Here are two models representing each look. And whatever side or style you are drawn to, we hope you can see a little bit of yourself in our beautiful brides!

A note on our collaborators:

We’re pretty fond of bringing a stellar team together to create magic, and we went even bigger this time around by bringing in dresses and florists. It was incredibly creatively fulfilling to work with talented local vendors who wanted to create something that spoke to the wedding nerd in us all. A big thank you to the whole team.

Collaborators:
Dresses by Alt Brides
Flowers by Mission de Flores (Natural Bride) and LaBodega Flora (Fashion Forward Bride)

Mishi at Fall New York Fashion Week

This February I had the honor of assisting in Fall New York Fashion Week. This time for Jorge Salinas for his NYFW debut for the first offering of J. Salinas, his new namesake label.

The hair was all about being undone and natural. This women's focus is on her fashion and keeping everything understated and minimal. If your looking for inspiration I've compiled my favorite looks below.

WWD goes on to review the clothes as, "Beautiful alpaca jackets trimmed with leather and coats edged in Mongolian fur — styled over multilayered embroidered organza maxidresses — looked suitable to be worn during cold winters in international capitals. The minimal color palette of black and white, with hints of elegant rusty orange, enhanced the collection’s urban attitude."

Workout Hair Guide

When you're ready to get your sweat-on, what do you do with those lovely locks? Morphic's got some workout-ready inspiration, no matter your exer-style...

For the yogini

tip:

Yoga is all about bringing who you are to the mat. You can simplify your style with an easy fishtail or you can go a bit more avant-garde and sport a sculptural, braided bun. Either way, just enjoy your practice without hair falling in your face.  Namaste.

Runner Hair

TIP:

The key to perfect running hair is to style your hair going back and ending at the neck.  Our model has long hair so Mishi styled her with looks that either laid low or high and tight to shorten the length and control the bounce, making it easier for her to run.

For the Cyclist

Tip:

Styling your hair for a ride is all about manageability. But that doesn't mean you can't sport some style! A braided bun can give you the best of both worlds. Its tight enough to hold under a helmet, and still come out looking fabulous after your ride.

Just do it!

STYLING TIPS FOR BRAIDS

  • Use the Bamboo Texturizing Body Boost before braiding. It adds some friction to your hair making it easier for you to braid. And once you release those luscious locks you'll have va-va voom volume. ($24 in the morphic shop)
  • Do you want to keep the braids in longer? Cover your hair at night with a silk (or silk-like) fabric scarf. That will allow your hair to rest and keep those flyaways at bay.
  • If you’re looking to avoid shampooing with your active lifestyle we recommend using the Naturia-dry shampoo ($27/travel size $13.50) or the Fioravanti Clarify & Shine Rinse ($27). Its active ingredients detangle by tightening the hairs cuticles while removing residue left by hard water. Plus, it smells amazing and brings shine back to your hair. You can use it one of two ways: dilute with water or, simply distribute through hair then rinse with cool water.

MORPHIC FAVE: RENE FURTERER ABSOLUE KERATINE

Here at Morphic, we've got a new favorite product, and we want you to get your hands on it too!

One of the highlights of salon life is getting first try at the newest and best products, so we were stoked to check out Rene Furterer Absolue Keratine.

The "keratin" part provides hair with really amazing gloss and shine, so it's perfect for those who need a little extra oomph for dry strands from things like heat styling, color treatments, or even just cold weather (so it's perfect for winter). Plus, it smells amazing. To turn those limp locks into silk for the holidays!

Mishi says, "This is product is great for anyone who feels like their hair is dry and damaged, or anyone who just likes to treat their hair with something super rich every once in a while. Just use more or less, depending on preference. Perfect for hair that's been highlighted."

Mishi created a beautiful ombre that she sealed with the Absolu shampoo and conditioner. Instead of looking dry you can see that her hair is shiny and healthy.
