finding marilyn

The novel idea behind Mishi's Hair Movie Night began with her inspiration to master iconic hair of the century. Last week's viewing of Some Like It Hot was the real opening act to this week's clinical in re-creating Marilyn's look. While we had some challenges finding a bombshell blonde in a city full of brunettes, Esther Bengel walked into the studio ready to play the part. We couldn't have asked for a better beauty to work with. Mishi created a hair masterpiece with finger waves and pin curls. I enjoyed creating Marilyn style makeup with her signature red lips and sultry eyes, and Maple Porter staged the shoot with David Schanes capturing the moment behind the camera.  Job well done team!

marilyn's bday bash

We want to give a special thanks to everyone for celebrating Morphic's 2nd birthday as we kicked off the year with our Hair Movie Night Film Series starring Marilyn Monroe in Some Like It Hot. Mishi had a blast playing the part of being Marilyn singing her infamous version of Happy Birthday. The Morphic team had a great time handing out Marilyn prizes at our raffle and trivia to all our knowledgeable fashionistas. For those of you who have never seen Some Like It Hot it's a hilarious piece of Hollywood history that you need to put in your queue of movies to check out this weekend. Enjoy!

HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY MORPHIC!

Mel Ramos

Like many artists that emerged from the 60s, Mel Ramos is famous for celebrating aspects of popular culture as represented in mass media. He is best known for his voluptuous nude babes. I love him since he usually makes an effort to make sure the hair is as hot as their bodies. Ramos's work can be found at major exhibitions throughout the world and is currently being featured at Moderism Gallery here in SF. I've noticed some of his paintings dated as recent as 2013. I love that he has clearly kept up with the times by including balayage highlights into the style of the hair. Good work Ramos!
