Mishi spent last weekend at the Scottish festival learning braid techniques from her friend, Brenda the Braider... check out this video for a preview of her day!
fashion's night out
Fall might start on September 21, but for fashion junkies it starts September 6 as New York City kicks off Fashion Week 2012. We were able to part take in the festivities in celebration with Fashion's Night Out where the City’s major designers and department stores have a party in the name of the new collections for Fall. We closed the shop at 6pm and made our way to Union Square. Three of us girls strolled along Maiden Lane enjoying all the boutiques that were open after hours, serving champagne, handing out give always and staging mini photo shoots for us fabulous locals. Between the Marc Jacobs boutique to Saks Fifth Avenue, this fall season's fashion is inspiring with textiles of the softest velvet, satin and tweed in endless yummy shades of cinnamon, copper, plum and navy. The makeup collections are an artists playground, and the hair styled for this Fall’s wardrobing makes the full package. Stay tuned! We’ll keep you posted on the latest! ‘Tis the season!
burners to babes
I can tell that Burning Man has ended and all the Burners are making their way back to City life. I drove past the manual car wash on 12th and Harrison and the ground is covered in the white dusty silt of the Nevada desert. Yep, the Burners are washing off the playa from their cars, and I’m sure everything they own. They have been trickling in the salon this week to get their re-entry hair cuts and dos. At Morphic, we have created the perfect cocktail of products to clarify the dirt out of the hair and surge the hair with moisture: clarify the hair with Rene Furterer’s Vinegar Rinse a couple times, then cleanse with DermOrganic Shampoo and Conditioner. It’s the perfect combo to Happy Hair! Enjoy!
vintage styles are back
Check out today's vintage fellas- these styles are making a comeback, for sure. Vintage styles are great because their clean cut lines look good on nearly every face shape. They're also easy to blend with lots of different fashion styles, from modern to hipster to a true vintage style.
All three of these images are more flea market finds- they're actually vintage postcards! Back in the day, people used to send these movie stills or portraits in the mail to friends and family. How would you like to get one of these in the mail?! Which one is your favorite?
PARK(ing) day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers, and citizens transform metered parking spots into temporary public parks. Originating in San Francisco in 2005, the idea behind PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, and to make the streets—for a moment—more about community...and fun!
This year, Mishi will be staging a hair intervention at the Morphic parklet by quickly transforming your everyday hairstyle into a braided work of art-- at the Morphic Braid Bar! The parklet will be a stripped down version of the Morphic salon, with fun parking day decor (featuring the Morphic Smart car), free wi-fi, and Mishi’s signature coconut water supply. This PARK(ing) day, we’ll be braiding away with Brenda the Master Braider and documenting each style with photo and video media. There will be great music, and free gifts from Rene Furterer for anyone who posts or tweets about the parklet on the spot! We’ve got to keep that meter running, so feel free to bring a few quarters to keep it fed! Be sure to check out last year's parklet, Flowers In Your Hair on our facebook page!
Come check us out and get your Morphic braid on! We love you guys and can't wait to see you there!
