talk of the town

Thanks to everyone that made the Morphic Grand Opening Party an evening to remember!! I greatly appreciate the love and support from everyone who showed up, and from everyone who couldn’t make it, yet wished me the very best!! Akiha and I had such a fun time creating stylish-do’s for the evening and making our clients, friends, and family beautiful!! It is wonderful to celebrate this milestone with all my special people! See you again soon! Happy Hair! ✁mishi

hair hero vidal sassoon

On May 9, 2012, world class hairdresser and pioneer Vidal Sassoon passed away in his Los Angeles home at the age of 84. Vidal Sassoon liberated women from the 50s era of bouffants and beehives, where previously women had to maintain the up keep with weekly visits to beauty parlors. As a hair architect, Vidal envisioned hair to take on a different form beyond shampoo sets, over teasing and a lacquer finish. Continue Reading…

a client testimonial

Hi Mishi,

Thanks for checking in. I love my hair even more now. The day I got the ombre done I was still getting to know my new hair–now we are the best of friends. And I am having fun with it too!

The whole thing has made me update my look and have also discovered that waves look great on my hair and that it makes me look younger. Without drawing huge conclusions, the whole thing has forced me to take better care of myself and even dress better. I have received tons of compliments and comments since then.

So THANK YOU. I just saw your video on the fior avanti product (that cherry vinegar) so I will swing by soon and get a bottle.

I am definitely talking about MORPHIC!

Stay cool and don’t move to NYC.

Cheers,

Flo

Morphic Movin’ Up

Thanks to you, I’m on my way up –  to a bigger and better space within Sola Studios!  I’m so proud to offer you – my amazing clients – something brighter and better!  Come to my Grand Opening celebration of my new studio and meet my new hair assistant Akiha Imazu on May 4 at 6pm Suite 210!

It is going to be a blast –  a blast of hairspray that is!  Yours truly will be the entertainment, demonstrating outrageously awesome morphed out hairstyling.  It’s going to be fun, exhilarating and slightly hilarious.  So bring yourself and your whole posse to the party.  And when choosing your outfit think outside the box…the more outrageous, the more fun you will have.  Don’t be boring!  Go crazy!

And if none of that convinced you, there will be free drinks, music, and snacks!

Can’t wait to see your face!

Xo,

Mishi

cherry blossom festival

At the San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival on Saturday, April 21, I volunteered at a charity booth to raise funds for the victims of the Northern Japan Earthquake that tragically occurred last year.  I decorated hair with feathers and flowers.  We raised $5379.50 in total, and 100% of the proceeds will be sent to The Ashinaga Fund and The Northern Japan Earthquake Relief Fund.  I also created an updo for the Cherry Blossom, Hawaiian beauty pageant princess Nicole Kinney.  It was such a fulfilling experience to be able to help others by doing something with my own skills.

electric rouge

For the 2012 Spring/Summer season, make way for yummy orange lips!  They are the season’s essentials!  Some of my personal favorites are Guerlain’s Rouge G Gypsy #41 and YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture #21.  Both colors will give you a vibrant orange tone with a touch of electric tangerine.  I love to partner these with a pop of color on the cheek with Guerlain’s Terracotta Bronziing Powder #1, which is a gorgeous mosaic of almond and peach hues, or YSL’s Blush Radiance #2, which is a natural blend of corals.  Have fun playing and enjoy!

morphing pinterest

If you are hearing about Pinterest for the first time, you may want to stop reading this now, because if you are anything like me – someone who is easily sucked into the cyberspace of social media, then add Pinterest to your list of internet addictions. The thing I love about Pinterest is that I can make my own digital vision board with pics on the web and with pics from my own personal collection.  There is no more organizing magazine clippings and searching around the house for scissors, glue and poster board. advice from a curly girl

As a gal who received my curly hair genes from my Dad, growing up I had no idea how to make my hair look decent.  In fact for most of my pre-teen years, it resembled a cropped poof ball on my head…it was bad.  Mom was no help –  with her pin-straight hair, she simply didn’t know what to do with it.

Taming my hair took years of trial and error, but I finally found my miracle product: Frizz Ease by John Frieda.  Even today it is my staple product.  No matter what other alternatives I try, nothing compares to this frizz-fighting miracle in a bottle. Since finding the right product and techniques, my spring ringlets now regularly inspire “Oohs” and “Ahhs”.

listen up fellas

Alright boys…where do I begin? I suppose I should start by saying this is for all those fellas that need a little help in the haircut department. You know there is nothing worse than when I’m walking up behind a guy and I can tell that they just stepped out of a barber shop from some hair dresser’s botched job with the clippers. The neckline is the greatest give away Continue Reading…
