Last month kicked off the Summer festival season with Coachella. Our girl on the scene, Maple, brought back the low down on all the hair trends and some great tips for hair care on your festival adventures. Whether indie rock shows, reggae fests or hip-hop showcases. We've got you covered.

Trends:
1. BRAIDS were everywhere at Coachella. Fishtails, dutch girl crowns and funky french braids. For your summer festy, start off simple. Messy braids are super on trend. Get braided by Mishi before you go. No muss no fuss, you can spend your time listening to the music, not worrying about your hair. Pull it out for day two or three and have beautiful tousled waves.

2.COLOR. Bright wonderful fun colors are definitely an exciting summer statement. Teal was a showstopper at Coachella. Going into Summer we see this being a favorite. As well as purple and the classic flamingo pink
3. OMBRE is a sure win for Summer hair. We couldn't help notice many of our clients coming in for this treatment before their Coachella trip. And our inside source says all sorts of shades and tones in this gradient style were walking around Coachella. Ombre gives hair that "been in the sun" look. For a natural, bohemian feel that seems effortless this is the way to go.

OUR RECOMMENDATIONS FOR GREAT SUMMER FESTIVAL HAIR
Protection-
1.Kendi Oil by Bamboo – Our favorite product, this ultra conditioning treatment oil is unlike others that make your hair look oily until you wash. Kendi oil goes on like silk. Put it on wet or dry hair, protect and smooth all at the same time.
2.Anti-Breakage Thermal Protection by Bamboo- Protects hair up to 480 degrees. Usually suggested for blow dryer and curling iron addicts. Though with intense heat and festival sun we recommend it for all. Mist onto damp hair and let naturally dry or blow out. You could even spritz this on dry hair for added protection.
3.After Sun Leave-In Moisture Treatment by Rene Furterer- Though labeled “after sun”, we commonly recommend it for regular use. Light weight with a nice smell. Treat wet hair and let dry naturally, spritz lightly on dry hair before going out and/or treat hair after your visit to the pool or at the end of the day.

Style-
1.Boho Waves by Bamboo- remember that braid you just let down? Spritz this on tussled locks to keep those waves voluminous. Great for hair with any kind of body, wavy or curly. Enhances the natural body in your hair. Perfect for that effortless bohemian look. Use on damp or dry hair.
2.Brilliance Cream by Bamboo- Great for everyone. Massage a little into those dry ends to make them look healthy and moisturized. Or rub a bit through the length of your clean dry hair for that perfect “second day” effect. Adds sheen, moisture and separation to your locks.
3.Dry Shampoo by Bamboo and Rene Furterer- We love both of these dry shampoos BOTH will easily soak up all the sweat and oil built up at the scalp from the days dancing under the sun. Spray a little onto dry hair at the crown and bangs. Let set for a second or two and comb through: voila, clean hair.

Now into our 4th Hair Movie Night, it's time to add some 80s variety diverging from our old Hollywood streak from the likes of Veronica Lake, Marilyn Monroe, and Edie Sedgwick to the cyber punk cult classic Blade Runner. Immortalized since its inception, this film is a must see. As an obvious influencer in the modern sci-fi genre, it also makes a fashion statement with an award winning aesthetic in custom design, hair and makeup. Come check it out with us at 7pm on April 29.

Hair Reference:

I’m obsessed with Rachel (played by Sean Young). She is so gorgeous in her victory roll style ponytail. She is so poised and alluring with her sensitive and longing side. Her style is very retro and soft in juxtaposition of a futuristic unwelcoming world.

Makeup Reference:

Prius is a vixen villain willing to kill to save herself from “retirement” (played by the foxy Daryl Hannan). She wears a mask over her eyes to make herself extra creepy yet she aways manages to look good and cool doing it.
