I am Mishi Nova, the owner/artisan of Morphic. My career began in 2002, at the young age of 18, in my home town of Colorado Springs. After high school I was looking for a trade that would provide me the ability to explore my creativity and give me the independence I craved. What about being a hairdresser? It made perfect sense and I knew right then that hair would be my life’s work.
There came a time when I knew that to truly be myself and pursue the innovative ideas I have, I needed to become self employed, that is when I took the huge step of creating Morphic. I quickly rose to higher degrees of success, and before long I was able to hire the help I needed to further grow the business. Steadily more and more of my ultimate vision is materializing!
Ten years into my career, I am still thoroughly enjoying this profession, and feel like I’m just getting started on this journey of a lifetime. To this day, I continue taking many classes, learning everything from old school curl setting to wigs and braiding. Contrary to popular belief, I don’t believe in limiting myself to one repetitive skill, and I don’t “specialize” in cutting, coloring, or styling. I believe that the ultimate freedom is being able to find inspiration in my clients and execute anything in front of me.
Hair Stylist/Makeup Artist
I consider myself a born artist, and feel that I was made to re-create the world around me. My guiding force has always been to put the finishing touches on things, or the icing on the cake, so to say. In my youth, I was greatly inspired and captivated by the fashion industry, and sought out to use my talents in a way that could be expressed to enhance the great allure of the feminine. I wanted to show others how beauty can be embodied in our lifestyles and personalities through hair and makeup.
I began my professional career with the Toni and Guy Hair Academy in 2003. Toni and Guy paved the way for me to take on the full expression of creating a complete look. From there, I pursued my career as a hairdresser and makeup artist for Aveda, until I decided to concentrate my focus on mastering the art of makeup in 2006. During my years as a makeup artist I worked for Stila, Bobby Brown, Shu Uemura, and Guerlain, which was where I remained for seven years in Denver, Colorado. During that time I worked throughout the region at shows, private parties and weddings through Neiman Marcus, the Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons. Working with brides became my primary area of expertise. Now, based in the heart of San Francisco, I am working with an incredible team of artists for Kevyn Aucoin and of course my amazing hair sister Mishi!
While I have been in full swing doing makeup here is San Francisco, I have been having a blast getting back into hair, including wig design. Getting my hands back into hair has given me an ability to fully immerse myself in the beautification process. I can't imagine doing anything else!

Jay DeBarge is a Jay Of All Trades. Born and raised in the Bay Area, from South Bay to East Bay, Jay brings an effervescent and innovative energy wherever she goes. She first pursued her degree in Music, while teaching at California State East Bay Hayward in 2012. Inspired by her mother, who created a lucrative business in esthetics, Jay decided to further her interest in a different trade, cosmetology. During her education at Avalon School of Cosmetology in Alameda, she went to classes for many prestigious companies in the industry, including Beth Minardi, Paul Mitchell, Wella, and DevaCurl. Graduating from Avalon in August of 2015, she decided to further her education in the beauty industry by gaining certification in both skincare and makeup while working at Sephora as a makeup artist and product consultant in San Francisco. She also gained a better understanding of popular high-end haircare during her employment. She moved on from Sephora to DryBar shortly after in order to improve her skills with styling and customer service in the Bay Area. Even more enthralled by the beauty industry and what more it had to offer, Jay finally sought apprenticeship in a salon that carried all of the qualities that she longed to grow with. She found her fit as a part of Team Morphic on February of 2016.
